The design intern program seeks to complement the shop-focused education of the apprenticeship program with training in timber frame design. Design interns will split time between the design office and shop, allowing them to master both the design of frames and the techniques used to cut them. Students will also gain an understanding of the business side of timber framing and gain experience working with clients, organizing advertising, preparing estimates and managing projects. Design interns will often be expected to take on a leadership role in the shop, sharing their skills and knowledge with newer students. We ask for a minimum 10-week commitment.
Students interested in the design intern program should have a background in engineering, architecture, or a design related field and a passion for learning. Knowledge of CAD is a plus. The $250 registration fee is waived for design interns and they receive a $300 stipend at the completion of ten weeks. Design interns lodge free on-site. There is a refundable $30 cleaning deposit.
Unfortunately, this program is not currently being offered. |
